Abstract <p>New complexes, [Co(dppa<sup>Me</sup>)<sub>2</sub>(CH<sub>3</sub>CN)](BF<sub>4</sub>)<sub>2</sub> <b>1</b> and [Co(dppa<sup>MeOBn</sup>)<sub>2</sub>(CH<sub>3</sub>CN)](BF<sub>4</sub>)<sub>2</sub> <b>2</b>, where dppa<sup>Me</sup>&#xa0;=&#xa0;N,N-bis(diphenylphosphino)methylamine, dppa<sup>MeOBn</sup>&#xa0;=&#xa0;N,N-bis(diphenylphosphino)-2-methoxybenzylamine, are synthesized and structurally characterized. Their structural features and electrochemical properties are determined. It is shown that both complexes exhibit catalytic activity in the electrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction with overpotentials of 0.62&#xa0;V and 0.70&#xa0;V and turnover frequencies of 4.03&#xa0;s<sup>–1</sup> and 3.37&#xa0;s<sup>–1</sup> for complexes <b>1</b> and <b>2</b>, respectively.</p>

Abstract

New complexes, [Co(dppaMe)2(CH3CN)](BF4)2 1 and [Co(dppaMeOBn)2(CH3CN)](BF4)2 2, where dppaMe = N,N-bis(diphenylphosphino)methylamine, dppaMeOBn = N,N-bis(diphenylphosphino)-2-methoxybenzylamine, are synthesized and structurally characterized. Their structural features and electrochemical properties are determined. It is shown that both complexes exhibit catalytic activity in the electrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction with overpotentials of 0.62 V and 0.70 V and turnover frequencies of 4.03 s–1 and 3.37 s–1 for complexes 1 and 2, respectively.
