Abstract

A method is proposed for plasma treatment of aqueous colloidal copper solutions for targeted enlargement of particle sizes in order to obtain compositions with a dosed manifestation of bactericidal and disinfectant properties. It has been shown that an important component of obtaining a stable colloidal system is using surfactants that stabilize a colloidal system, with minor admixtures of high-molecular-weight alcohols giving better results and preventing copper from deposition on the walls of the vessel containing a colloidal solution. It has been found that as a result of plasma treatment of the solution, it is possible to increase the size of copper particles by a factor of 1.5–2 on average.
