Jet Formation and Penetration Properties of Micro-Shaped Charges with Low-Density Polymer Liners

Abstract
Experiments and numerical simulations were conducted to clarify the jet formation and penetration properties of micro-shaped charges with low-density polymer liners. The effects of liner materials, stand-off and charge structure on the performance of the shaped charge were analyzed. The results show that compared to the copper jet, the depth of penetration of the polymer jet decreased while the diameter of the penetration crater increased. Furthermore, the layered charge structure can improve the properties of the micro-shaped charge with polymer liner. The research can guide the optimization and application of the micro-shaped charge with polymer liner.
