The boundary mechanism from citizenship pressure to citizenship fatigue: a three-way interactive model with need for inclusion and positive resources
摘要
Citizenship pressure and citizenship fatigue are important concepts in the study of the dark side of organizational citizenship behaviors, and there have been studies documenting a positive correlation between the two. Considering the universality of citizenship pressure and the negativity of citizenship fatigue, more research is needed to test boundary conditions to assist intervention. Based on the conservation of resources theory, this study establishes a three-way interactive model to explore the boundary mechanism between citizenship pressure and citizenship fatigue. The data were collected from 425 Chinese employees. The result shows that the positive relationship between citizenship pressure and citizenship fatigue is positively regulated by need for inclusion. Further, the moderating impact of the need for inclusion is dependent on perceived social impact and perceived evaluative positive work-related identity of employees. The theoretical and practical implications, limitations and future research are discussed.
