<p>Snapchat is a popular social media app, and like all social media, its users may self-disclosure personal information which can be used by others to harm them. Yet, little is known about the nature of personal information disclosed on Snapchat stories, and what may influence such self-disclosures. Utilizing a cross-sectional survey of adult Snapchat users (<i>n</i> = 631), this study examines the types of personal information self-disclosed on Snapchat stories and the variables associated with making such disclosures. The results identified two distinct types of self-disclosure on Snapchat stories, with differing associated variables. These results challenge the common conceptualization of self-disclosure as unidimensional and offer new insights into why self-disclosure may occur, helping to inform interventions intended to protect social media users from harm.</p>
