It argues that envy, conceptualized as a topological position within the unconscious, serves as an anchor point in the flight from anxiety, preceding states of fear or hate. Through allegories such as the “lifeboat” and the “spaceship,” the essay illustrates how phantasies of scarcity and omnipotence fuel authoritarian tendencies. The analysis ultimately advocates for solidarity and comradeship as antidotes to authoritarianism, while emphasizing the need to address envy in these projects.</p>
