<p>Scholar of early modern literature Georgina Wilson interviews paper maker Tom Frith-Powell on his practice in light of the eighteenth-century it-narrative ‘Adventures of a Quire of Paper’ (August–October 1779). Wilson and Frith-Powell discuss the visibility of labour, the agency of materials, and the relationship between theory and practice in this short story told from the point of view of paper, and how these resonate (or not) with Frith-Powell’s experience. The conversation raises questions about what fiction, theory, and ideas can bring to embodied technique, and the relationship between real and imagined papermaking in the past and present.</p>
