<p>Ken Rogoff’s (2025) <i>Our Dollar, Your Problem</i> is a fascinating, accessible journey through the history of, challenges to, and possible future problems of the dollar as the dominant global reserve currency drawing not only on his own analyses and that of others, but also on his extensive experience in policy advising, including as Chief Economist of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The book blends important trends and episodes from both international, and country specific, economic, fiscal, financial, geopolitical and military history to quite good effect. While Rogoff suggests the dollar will dominate for some time—he describes it as late middle-age—he worries we may be closer to that than many believe and that the end may first come gradually, then <i>abruptly.</i> Throughout the volume, Rogoff includes valuable perspectives on how other nations’ decision-makers view the dollar’s dominant role and our—at times—insensitivity to their issues.</p>
