Self-compassion and earthquake fear: the mediating roles of resilience and fear of happiness
摘要
This study aimed to test the parallel multiple mediation roles of resilience and fear of happiness in the relationship between self-compassion and earthquake fear. A total of 458 individuals [AgeRanj = 18–70, AgeMean = 38.43, AgeSd = 9.83] voluntarily participated in the study. Data were collected using the Self-Compassion Scale Short Form, the Brief Resilience Scale, the Fear of Happiness Scale, and the Earthquake Fear Scale. The data were analyzed using path analyses. In addition, the significance of the parallel multiple mediations of resilience and fear of happiness in the relationship between self-compassion and earthquake fear was determined using bootstrap analysis. When direct effects were examined, individuals with high levels of self-compassion showed higher resilience. Similarly, individuals with higher levels of self-compassion had lower fear of happiness. High resilience also led to lower earthquake fear. Lower fear of happiness was associated with lower earthquake fear. In terms of indirect effects, resilience and fear of happiness had parallel multiple mediating roles in the relationship between self-compassion and earthquake fear.
