The grinding route for synthesis of dihydropyrrolophenanthrolines and their conversion to dipyrrolophenanthrolines under reflux condition

The grinding method is a new and environmentally friendly protocol for synthesizing of 6a,7-dihydropyrrolo[1,2-a:2’,1’-k][1,10]phenanthroline derivatives as demonstrated in this study. The results of this investigation show that the reaction between 1,10-phenanthroline and dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates is completed rapidly, yielding high amounts of 6a,7-dihydropyrrolo[1,2-a:2’,1’-k][1,10]phenanthroline derivatives. These synthetic compounds were subsequently converted to dipyrrolo[1,2-a:2’,1’-k][1,10]phenanthrolines under reflux conditions.
