High-Quality Chromosome-Level Genome Assemblies of two Pandanales species: Pandanus tectorius and Acanthochlamys bracteata

Acanthochlamys bracteata P. C. Kao (Velloziaceae) and Pandanus tectorius Parkinson (Pandanaceae) belong to Pandanales. P. tectorius is a coastal plant adapted to saline and intertidal habitats across the Philippines and Pacific islands, while A. bracteata is a critically endangered herb endemic to the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau. In this study, we generated high-quality chromosome-level assemblies for both species. The genomes of P. tectorius (821.80 Mb) and A. bracteata (192.29 Mb) were anchored to 30 and 20 chromosomes, with contig N50 values of 18.31 Mb and 8.00 Mb, and BUSCO completeness of 99.33% and 97.95%, respectively. A total of 28,612 and 23,144 protein-coding genes were annotated, both exceeding 90% BUSCO completeness. Phylogenomic analyses revealed that Acanthochlamys and Pandanus diverged approximately 99.39 million years ago (Mya), and their common ancestor diverged from Dioscoreales around 121.41 Mya. These chromosome-level assemblies provide valuable genomic resources for investigating adaptations to extreme coastal or high-altitude environments, as well as for the conservation genomics of endangered species within Pandanales.
