Dataset on exoskeleton chemistry and surface morphology of the pill millipede, Arthrosphaera lutescens
摘要
Arthrosphaera lutescens (Butler, 1872) is a forest-dwelling millipede recognized for its vibrant green exoskeleton with narrow yellow and black bands. This dataset describes the structural, compositional and mechanical characterization of the exoskeleton using fluorescence microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), confocal Raman spectroscopy, histology, solid-state NMR, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX), inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), x-ray diffraction (XRD), hydrophobicity, and nanoindentation. This dataset supports further studies on millipede exoskeletons.
