Background <p>Several continuous wireless thermometers have been developed as an alternative to invasive continuous thermometers, with limited studies performed. TempTraq® patches are non-invasive thermometers applied to the axilla that continuously monitor body temperature and transmit readings wirelessly. We aimed to evaluate the accuracy and tolerability of TempTraq® patches in children.</p> Methods <p>We conducted a method-comparison study over one year comparing TempTraq® to tympanic thermometer readings in hospital inpatients aged 1 to 17 years. TempTraq® patch readings, tympanic thermometer readings, and guardian and participant satisfaction were assessed.</p> Results <p>Of 100 enrolled participants, 74 were included for analysis as they had worn the patch for minimum 6 h. The 810 paired TempTraq® axillary and tympanic temperature readings showed significant agreement between the two methods with mean difference of −0.39 °C (1.07, 95% limits of agreement −2.49 °C to 1.71 °C). TempTraq® identified febrile events on average 95 minutes earlier than intermittent temperature monitoring. TempTraq® had high satisfaction ratings.</p> Conclusions <p>TempTraq® patch readings are comparable to tympanic temperature readings and acceptable to paediatric patients and guardians. Continuous wireless temperature monitoring using TempTraq® in children
