<p>Pediatric irritability, an increased proneness to anger relative to same aged peers, is linked to deficits in inhibitory control. Here, we examine issues of measurement and specificity of the construct of inhibitory control, with a focus on potential treatment implications. We cover lessons learned from prior training approaches. We dissect the role of inhibitory control in an efficacious psychosocial treatment and propose a research agenda to further test inhibitory control as a candidate behavioral treatment target for youth with irritability.</p>
