Background <p>Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine (NPM) Fellowship programs have the responsibility of providing realistic exposure to challenging and complex scenarios to trainees, to help develop sound knowledge, skills, and attitudes to be successful neonatologists. Changing ICU exposure time and work hour restrictions has made the role of simulation-based training even more essential.</p> Objectives <p>We hypothesized that a multicenter simulation bootcamp (BC) for senior NPM fellows focused on high acuity low occurrence (HALO) scenarios and skills would enhance knowledge, skills, attitudes, and job readiness.</p> Methods <p>We conducted a repeated annual cross-sectional cohort study, multi-institutional senior NPM fellow BCs that provided simulation-based educational experience targeting the specific needs of senior (2nd and 3rd year) NPM fellows.</p> Results <p>Our repeated cross-sectional cohort of multi-institutional senior NPM fellow BCs was successful in providing simulation-based educational experience targeting the specific needs of senior (2nd and 3rd year) NPM fellows.</p> Conclusion <p>This experience had a significant positive impact on confidence levels for HALO skills and complex clinical scenario management, neonatal procedures and crisis resource management, while decreasing anxiety and optimizing preparedness to practice in high acuity or ethically challenging scenarios.</p>

Background
