<p>This study scientifically analyzed the materials in Lee Ungno’s Composition (1967), which includes gochujang and rice grains used in prison, to establish durable conservation methods. The support material was identified as hard pine, while the red-colored layers consisted of epoxy resin and gochujang. The adhesive securing the wooden pieces was composed of rice grains, the translucent bottom layer contained egg whites, and the yellow layer included eggshells. Scientific analysis revealed additional ingredients due to decomposition, microbial damage, and contamination. By comparing control materials with interviews and historical records, we estimated the specific food ingredients used. This study provides essential insights into the conservation of contemporary food-based artworks and contributes to future conservation strategies for similar works.</p>
