<p>With the developing recognition of cultural heritage, cultural routes have emerged as a distinct category. Traditional documentation and presentation methods, such as photographs or map-based sketches, face limitations in addressing the complexity and dynamism of cultural routes. Digital technologies offer a new approach, enabling the reconstruction and visualisation of damaged or intangible segments. Focusing on the Sino-Korean Tribute Routes of the Qing Dynasty (1616–1912), this study utilises data from archival research, field survey and online geomatics platforms. Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), the article digitally reconstructs the intangible and deteriorated tribute routes by considering geographical, environmental and ancient travel constraints. GIS-based algorithms, specifically least-cost path analysis, are developed to enable precise reconstruction. The aim is to provide user-friendly computational methods for better presentation of complex cultural routes. The reconstructed routes lay a foundation for further digital applications, contributing to cultural route projects, particularly in tourism and exhibitions.</p>
