Pusa Rice Hybrid 60
摘要
Pusa Rice Hybrid 60 (PRH 60) (IET 28965) is a high-yielding, short-duration, long-slender grain aromatic rice hybrid developed at the Division of Genetics, ICAR–Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI), New Delhi. Developed through a cross between the thermo-sensitive genic male sterile (TGMS) line, Pusa 1S and the aromatic rice genotype, PRR 418, the hybrid represents an advanced two-line hybrid rice technology with simplified seed production compared to conventional three-line systems. Pusa RH 60 matures in approximately 120 days and recorded an average grain yield of 59.24 q/ha across three years of evaluation in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The hybrid exhibited an 11.6% yield advantage over the national hybrid check US 314, a 25.3% advantage over the national varietal check CO 51, and a 40.8% superiority over the zonal check in AICRPR trials. Identified for release in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in 2024 and subsequently notified in 2025, PRH 60 combines high productivity with desirable grain quality attributes. It possesses long-slender grains with good milling recovery (69.8%), high head rice recovery (61.6%), intermediate amylose content, and excellent cooking and eating quality. The hybrid also exhibits reactions to major insect pests comparable to standard checks. Its early maturity, aromatic grain quality, and TGMS-based hybrid seed production system make Pusa RH 60 a promising cultivar for enhancing rice productivity, profitability, and cropping intensity in the eastern Indo-Gangetic plains.
