Retrofitting of deteriorated column using graphene oxide cement composite

This article examines visible cracks in structures and their current state, identifying areas for improvement. Concrete is a common construction material, and as structures age, they deteriorate, causing signs like cracking, splitting, delamination, and corrosion of the reinforcing. To restore and strengthen these structures, various cement, admixtures, and modern repair materials are used. A cement composite is prepared with varying proportions of graphene oxide, with a variance of 1% with cement weight. Preliminary tests are conducted to determine the optimal cement replacement content for retrofitting, including initial and final setting times, consistency, and compressive strength. Non-destructive tests, such as the Rebound Hammer test and Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity test, provide information on crack strength and depth without causing damage. A 3% graphene oxide cement composite is used, resulting in a 37% increase in compressive strength and sealing capability.
