<p>Forest Fires (FF) in Kenya have emerged as a critical environmental issue that warrants comprehensive examination due to their increase in both frequency and intensity in recent decades. Understanding the dynamics of FF is crucial for developing effective prevention, detection, and management strategies. This review examines the causes, impacts, and existing strategies for Forest Fire Management (FFM) in Kenya. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systemic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) framework was adopted for this review. Scopus, CAB Direct, Web of Science, academic literature databases, the Google Scholar search engine, and the ResearchGate academic social network were used for literature searches on FF in Kenya. Additionally, scholarly grey literature from national and county government reports, policy documents, and strategic development plans relevant to FF were also reviewed. A total of 22 records spanning from 1990 to 2024 were considered in this study after the literature search and subsequent selection of relevant literature as per the stipulated inclusion and exclusion criteria. From the review it was evident that FF in Kenya are triggered by a combination of human activities and natural factors, resulting in both detrimental and beneficial ecological impacts. Moreover, the socio-economic ramifications of FF in Kenya are profound, as most local communities depend on forest resources for their livelihoods. FFM in Kenya faces several challenges, ranging from inadequate fire detection systems, limited financial and human resources, climate change, a lack of a comprehensive national policy, and weak stakeholder coordination. Improved FFM in Kenya requires a multifaceted approach that combines policy reforms, technological advancements, and enhanced community participation.</p>
