<p>The translation of the International Classification of Diseases, 11th Revision (ICD-11), into Slovak and Latin represents a significant accomplishment in the field of medical linguistics. The translation of an intricate system such as ICD-11, which was carried out by a team of translators at the Institute of Medical Terminology and Foreign Languages, Faculty of Medicine, Comenius University Bratislava, requires not only linguistic precision but also an understanding of medical concepts, nomenclature, and regional cultural adaptation. In addition, Medical English in itself has its unique challenges for translators, especially when the system of the target language differs substantially. In the translation of ICD-11, all of these aspects had to be considered. The main objective of the translation was to preserve the systematic character and scientific integrity of the original without compromising its practicality, an objective that was crucial for the effectiveness and applicability of the database among medical and health-care professionals and other users. This paper aims to highlight and discuss the typical traductology challenges faced by the team during the translation process into Slovak.</p>
