Combining ability of parental genotypes of ridge gourd [Luffa acutangula (L) Roxb] for yield related traits
摘要
Combining ability analyses revealed significant general and specific combining ability for yield related traits of 5 × 5 half-diallel populations. The parent RG003 exhibited desirable days for first female flowering, first fruit setting, first fruit harvest, male and female flowers per plant; RG002 for fruits per plant (no.); RG006 for length of fruit; RG007 for individual fruit weight and yield per plant. Parents RG006 and RG007 were good general combiner for length of fruit, diameter of fruit, average fruit weight and fruit yield per plant, whereas hybrid RG004 × RG006 was the best specific combiner for length of fruit, diameter of fruit and fruits per plant; hybrid RG006 × RG007 for the fruit yield per plant having the highest positive SCA effects. Hybrid RG002 × RG007 was the best specific combiner for days to first female flower, days to first fruit setting, days to first harvest and number of nodes to first female flower. Hybrid RG002 × RG004 was the best specific combiner for days to first male flower, number of male and female flowers having the highest negative SCA effects. The hybrids RG002 × RG003, RG002 × RG004, RG002 × RG007, RG003 × RG007, RG004 × RG006 and RG006 × RG007 could be used to develop commercial hybrids after multi-location and multi-environmental trials.
