<p><i>Goniocheton arborescens</i> Blume a lesser known species from the family Meliaceae, is reported here for the first time to the Indian mainland from the state of Arunachal Pradesh. Although this species has a wide range of global distribution from Southeast Asia to southern Australia, it is so far been recorded in India from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands only. The record of its occurrence from Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh not only extend its distribution further towards north but also forms first time report of the species from the mainland of India. A detailed taxonomic description, phenology, habitat, notes and associated species are presented here for easy identification of the species.</p>
