<p><i>Lycianthes biflora</i> (Lour.) Bitter, hitherto known only from northeastern India, is now reported for the first time from the Eastern Ghats based on a collection from the Similipal Biosphere Reserve of Odisha. The present report confirms the extension range of this species further to the Eastern Ghats from the northeastern region of the country. A detailed morphological description, ecology, phenology, distribution map, field and dissected floral parts, and transverse section of immature fruit photographs are provided for its easy identification.</p>
