<p>Starting with the standards for determining the permanganate index in water quality and related standards, this paper conducts an in-depth analysis of key aspects, including blank tests, acidity, the preparation and calibration of potassium permanganate titration solutions, and calculation formulas. The relationship between the preparation of standard solutions using glucose and the conversion of permanganate index values is also explored. Differences and connections with relevant industry standards are highlighted, focusing on the revision of four current domestic standards. Recommendations are provided to address existing discrepancies and to align national formulas with international standards.</p>
