The review focuses on the ongoing expansion of teledentistry as a sustainable solution, along with the tools and advanced technologies that support it. It will also develop a framework to explain the steps involved in teledentistry, including input, process, output, and feedback. Teledentistry includes various components such as teletriage, teleconsultation, telediagnosis, telemonitoring, and teleducation. There are several challenges that must be tackled. Key issues include reimbursement policies, costs, licensing regulations, limitations in physical examinations, and the need for specialized equipment. Teledentistry is used in many areas of dental care, including general dentistry and specialized fields like conservative dentistry, endodontics, dental prosthetics, oral surgery, periodontics, orthodontics, and implantology, and public health. Its main advantage is helping to close the gap in access to dental care, making it simpler for people to consult specialists and receive dental treatment when they need it. So, the aim of this review was to summarize the literature concerning the requirements, benefits, modalities, forms, and dental applications of teledentistry. It also sought to highlight the drawbacks, limitations, and legal considerations, as well as to explore the advancements and future potential of teledentistry.</p>
