<p><i>Exophiala xenobiotica</i>, a fungus belonging to the genus Exophiala, is a relatively rare species that infects human skin and soft tissues. Pneumonia caused by <i>E. xenobiotica</i> is extremely rare. In this paper, we report a case of a 60-year-old man who presented with severe pneumonia caused by <i>E. xenobiotica</i>, which was rapidly diagnosed clinically with the assistance of mNGS and treated with systemic voriconazole and glucocorticoid with good results.</p>

摘要

Exophiala xenobiotica, a fungus belonging to the genus Exophiala, is a relatively rare species that infects human skin and soft tissues. Pneumonia caused by E. xenobiotica is extremely rare. In this paper, we report a case of a 60-year-old man who presented with severe pneumonia caused by E. xenobiotica, which was rapidly diagnosed clinically with the assistance of mNGS and treated with systemic voriconazole and glucocorticoid with good results.
