Neurotrauma in sports: concussion and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE)
摘要
Neurotrauma in sports has increasingly become a focal point of concern, drawing considerable attention from both medical professionals and the general public. Concussions and Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) not only affect athletes' short-term quality of life but also carry significant long-term neurological and cognitive risks. Neurosurgeons play a crucial role in managing both the immediate and lasting effects of brain injuries in athletes, from diagnosis and treatment to ongoing care and prevention. This correspondence examines their role in addressing concussions and CTE, as well as strategies for preventing these injuries.
