Imaging features of scapulo thoracic bursitis: case report and review of the literature
摘要
The scapulothoracic joint is a complex anatomical articulation consisting of a sliding interface between the deep surface of the scapula and the thoracic rib cage, typically extending from the second to the seventh ribs. It plays a crucial role in shoulder stability and mobility. This articulation contains multiple bursae, classically described as two anatomical bursae and several adventitious bursae. Scapulothoracic bursitis is a rare and often underrecognized condition that occurs when these bursae become inflamed due to various etiologies. We report the case of a 64-year-old patient who presented with bilateral subscapular dorsal swellings secondary to bilateral scapulothoracic bursitis.
