摘要

The opening of slab is beneficial if the deflection is stand within the code-prescribed allowable limit. For this reason, this research conducts linear elastic analysis of two-way reinforced concrete slab with various percentages (6.25%, 9.77%, 14.06%, 19.14%, and 25%) openings under gravity loads by using ETABS v. 18.1.1 to evaluate the deflections, strains, and stresses of the slab. The slab is considered to be a 4-nodded rectangular plate element for the numerical analysis. Also, variable span lengths and live loads are used for the analysis to consider fixed support in all sides without peripheral beams for incorporating flat plate moment resisting structure effect. The experimental verification results in cases of the solid and hollow slabs are obtained to be 1.2% and 14.8%, respectively, which may indicate a good accuracy of the numerical analysis. The maximum variation of responses (i.e., deflection, stress, and strain) is found for the opening rate of 6.25% because of an equal reduction of stiffnesses from the middle and column strips simultaneously at the interface. So, this square-sized central opening rate of the two-way slab is critical to consider usual practice span lengths for industrial buildings in Bangladesh.
