Ho Chí Minh’s ideology on social leadership: understanding the development of leaders from a Vietnamese perspective

Ho Chi Minh always placed the interests of the people as paramount, so the requirement to develop leaders for the people always received special attention from him. The purpose of this article is to clarify Ho Chi Minh’s ideology on social leadership and to explore how the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) has inherited Ho Chi Minh’s ideology in building leaders in politics, ethics, competence, and leadership prestige. Through the method of examining available sources in Ho Chi Minh's works, documents of the CPV, and related studies, the article elucidates Ho Chi Minh’s ideology on social leadership regarding the objectives of social leadership, the subjects and objects of social leadership, the content of social leadership, and the methods of social leadership. It highlights how the CPV has embraced Ho Chi Minh’s ideology in developing leaders dedicated to serving the people, with a consistent focus on their well-being. The article also offers suggestions for defining and cultivating leaders in politics, ethics, competence, and leadership prestige, using measurable standards.
