<p>Continuing medical education has been mandatory in Germany since 2004. Since then, a&#xa0;large market of training providers has developed. In 2010, DEGAM (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Allgemeinmedizin und Familienmedizin) updated its position on training for general practitioners (GP). With the initiatives “Days of General Practice”, the offers of the Institute for GP Continuing Education (IhF), and the competence centers for continuing education in general practice, a&#xa0;large range of industry-independent offers oriented towards GP activities has now become established. In June 2024, the Federal Congress of Continuing Education in General Practice (BAM) took place in Berlin for the first time—a&#xa0;sign of the strength and confidence of this GP training scene. GPs are increasingly working in teams. For this reason, various key players in the field of industry-independent training for GP practice teams met for the first time at the BAM for an interprofessional exchange. This article reports on the preliminary results of this meeting. There was agreement on the need for industry-independent training courses. These should also be geared towards objective training needs. The increasing team orientation in GP practices should also be reflected in further training. Continuing education/training should therefore be oriented more towards competencies than towards membership in specific professional groups.</p>
