Ärzt:innen in Weiterbildung als Near-Peer Teachers: Umsetzung, Hürden und Erfolge
摘要
Student teaching by doctors in training, known as near-peer teaching, offers advantages for both students and junior doctors. Doctors in training improve their knowledge and self-reflection, students profit from teaching adapted to their needs and low hierarchies. Findings on near-peer teaching in general practice mainly originate from the English-speaking world and most of them relate to teaching in outpatient practice. As part of a newly designed seminar program for students in their final year (PJ) in online format, doctors from the Saxon Competence Center for Postgraduate Education in General Practice were recruited as lecturers. A total of 22 seminars on 4 different patient cases were designed and conducted between March 2022 and December 2023. Preparatory tasks using the flipped classroom method supplemented the appointments and enabled a close link to daily work in outpatient teaching practices. The design of the seminars required continuous supervision by faculty staff from the Institute of General Practice experienced in undergraduate medical teaching. Additional teaching formats were added in order to make the advantages of near-peer teaching in this format available to all participants. Structured didactic–methodological training for the lecturers will be introduced in the future. A meaningful evaluation is still pending.
