<p>Access to affordable healthcare and commodities is a major challenge in developing countries such as Nigeria; thus, the training of state-employed personnel in state institutions by certified implementing partner consultants remains a significant approach to achieving universal health coverage and sustainable development goals. This report contains all the interventions employed by the author as a consultant for the Global Fund Resilient and Sustainable Systems Strengthening for Health project in the Edo State Ministry of Health, Nigeria. The interventions are premised on human capacity development, coordination and systems strengthening, improving health commodity availability, and operationalizing the state and local logistics management coordinating units (LMCUs). Among the major successes achieved include building the capacities of key state and local government area LMCU members over time, so they were able to offer effective services and interventions that will guarantee health commodity management and security. Coordination among relevant health stakeholders and good logistics management information systems (LMIS) were also enhanced during the one-year duration of the project (December 2019 to December 2020). The exposition from this report suggests a holistic and ‘resilient sustainable system strengthening’ approach for managing global health challenges that can also be employed in managing global disease cases or pandemics.</p>
