摘要

Current research consistently demonstrates the vast potential of using games and video games as educational tools to enhance student learning. However, the term gamification is frequently employed to encompass all uses of these tools for educational purposes. It is essential to recognize that there are numerous ways to integrate games and video games into the classroom, and gamification is just one of them. Among these approaches, gamification and Game-Based Learning are the most commonly implemented. Distinguishing between them is crucial, as they represent two fundamentally different strategies, yet they are often mistaken for one another or considered synonymous. Each strategy has its own unique characteristics, functions, and methodological elements, which should be thoroughly understood to align with specific educational goals. This complexity can be overwhelming for newcomers to the field. Consequently, this paper offers a brief theoretical foundation aimed at providing clarity and fostering greater confidence in navigating the realm of educational gaming.
