摘要

The use of learning management systems (LMS) in hybrid learning environments has revolutionized educational practices in higher educational institutions. This study seeks to analyse the impact of LMS usage on students’ academic performance, particularly focusing on its bridging efficacy between face-to-face and online-based learning. According to the literature available LMS platforms play a role in bridging the gap to improve learning outcomes; providing seamless access to repository of educational resources, facilitating content sharing amongst peers through interactive tools and offering real time feedback [1, 14]. This study aimed to assess how academic performance in a statistics module with a hybrid learning environment was influenced by the use of LMS at universities in Gauteng Province, South Africa. In particular, the paper aims to examine how the incorporation of the LMS affects students' learning outcomes and performance. The data were collected through academic performance metrics. The study found that there is a positive relationship between the use of LMS and the academic performance of students in a statistics module. The results highlight the need for careful transition of LMS implementation and institutional support, and training to enhance its positive effect in hybrid learning environment. This study adds to a growing body of literature on the impact of technology-enhanced learning on higher education.
