<p>The Greco-Roman physician and pharmacologist Damocrates wrote his prescriptions in the form of poems. Three of the dental instructions were passed on by Galen of Pergamon. Reading the poems shows that the author placed great importance on not only describing the ingredients, but also on giving a number of practical instructions for their use.</p>
