<p>Dental anomalies are malformations that may occur either as isolated findings or as part of a syndrome. Developmental anomalies that affect morphology occur in both the primary and permanent dentition and take various forms, such as geminations, fusion, concrescence, dilaceration, dens evaginatus and invaginatus, enamel pearls and defects, taurodontism or peg-shaped laterals. All of these anomalies have clinical significance, especially in the anterior region, in terms of esthetics and malocclusion. They also often interfere with normal jaw development and lead to increased caries. In this second part of the series on dental anomalies, we discuss structural disorders with deviations in tooth ana-tomy. Developmental dental anomalies require careful examination and treatment planning. When an anomaly is present, dentists should assume that other anomalies may also be present. More complex cases require multidisciplinary planning and treatment. </p>
