<p>This study explores the effects of LINAC X-ray irradiation on the germination, pest resistance, and biochemical composition of white and black chickpea seeds. Results indicate that irradiation at doses of 300–350&#xa0;Gy completely inhibited germination in white chickpeas, while black chickpeas continued to germinate, with irradiated samples exhibiting a faster germination rate than untreated ones. Pest resistance analysis revealed that treated white chickpeas showed minimal infestation (0.33%), whereas untreated samples were highly susceptible. Both treated and untreated black chickpeas remained resistant to infestation. Biochemical analysis demonstrated no significant changes in protein, ash, fiber, or moisture content following irradiation. These findings suggest that LINAC X-ray treatment offers a promising method for prolonging the storage life of white chickpeas by preventing premature germination, thereby contributing to food preservation and security.</p>
