Addressing the critical investment gap in surgical education research through strategic surgical association partnerships
摘要
Surgical education research is critical for developing effective training paradigms to improve surgical care quality, especially in light of rapidly advancing surgical technology, growing demand for surgical care, and the projected surgeon workforce shortage. Despite initiatives from multiple large national organizations, surgical education research continues to face structural and financial barriers. The recommendations in this commentary seek to address these barriers by calling for designating a central coordinating organization, improving the visibility and alignment of funding opportunities, and creating standardized training pathways to strengthen surgical education research. These recommendations could maximize resources and ensure surgical education research receives deliberate, sustained, and substantial investment.
