<p>The pulsatile blood flow in our arterial vascular system creates a&#xa0;pressure pulse, which is defined as systolic blood pressure at the highest point and diastolic blood pressure at the lowest point. Although diastolic blood pressure is not the primary focus for anesthesiologists, it is essential for adequate organ perfusion. It is determined by components such as arterial elasticity, heart rate, stroke volume, and peripheral vascular resistance. Although clear data regarding the association between low perioperative diastolic blood pressure and outcome are lacking, it should be emphasized that diastolic pressure that is too low should be corrected intraoperatively. The selection of the appropriate vasopressor is determined by the clinical condition of the patient, the underlying cause of the hypotension, and any comorbidities.</p>
