摘要

Biofloc technology (BFT) is a cutting-edge aquaculture method that uses microbial processes to increase sustainability and productivity. It converts waste nutrients, especially nitrogen compounds, into microbial biomass that aquatic species can use as an additional source of food. By maintaining water quality and increasing feed utilization, this system reduces the need for water exchange. For species like tilapia and prawns that can eat microbial protein and are tolerant of high stocking densities, BFT works particularly well. Aquaculture operations can be further optimized through the real-time monitoring and management of water quality parameters, made possible by integrating Internet of Things (IoT) technology with BFT. By drastically lowering water exchange and the need for external feed, biofloc technology provides aquaculture in a more environmentally responsible manner. This makes it a viable and affordable choice for improving aquaculture methods. The study’s overall findings highlight the need to develop biofloc systems to boost aquaculture production and offer them as a competitive substitute for raising important commercial aquatic species.
