<p>Food security is a critical global issue, especially in developing countries post-pandemic of COVID. This research aims to inform decision-making and enhance regional food security, particularly in Southeast Asia. Therefore, this study compares the food security of Malaysia and Vietnam using the Global Food Security Index (GFSI) developed by the Economist Intelligence Unit. The GFSI assesses affordability, availability, quality, and sustainability of food. The findings reveal that Malaysia excels in affordability and quality but faces challenges in climate resilience and food imports. Meanwhile, Vietnam focuses on agricultural productivity and exports, leading to strong availability but needs improvement in affordability and safety. Higher-income countries are more food secure, regardless of productivity. The trends (2018–2022) show that both countries are improving in food security, with Vietnam progressing faster.</p>
