<p>This work aims to address the urgent need for a transition to sustainable energy sources in Africa amid ongoing energy crises and the pressures of international climate commitments. The lack of comprehensive bioenergy utilization presents a significant opportunity for the continent to harness its abundant biomass resources, yet the sector remains underdeveloped due to insufficient policies and technological barriers. To investigate the current landscape of bioenergy transition in Africa, a thorough literature review was conducted, encompassing peer-reviewed articles, policy reports, and case studies focused on bioenergy advancements across the continent. The analysis reveals critical gaps in policy frameworks, investment, and technology readiness, which hinder the growth of the bioenergy sector. The findings underscore the importance of sustainable feedstock utilization, public awareness, and community engagement as essential elements for successful bioenergy development. The article emphasizes the necessity for tailored policy interventions and infrastructure investments to create an enabling environment for bioenergy production. Furthermore, it discusses the potential for African countries to leverage bioenergy as a means to achieve energy security while contributing to global climate mitigation efforts. This research contributes to the understanding of the bioenergy sector's challenges and prospects in Africa and aims to inform policymakers and stakeholders about strategies for advancing the bioenergy economy.</p>
