<p>This paper explores the dynamic interplay between technological progress and civilizational development, focusing on the divergence between nominal and real progress. While humanity currently experiences unprecedented advancements in technology and economic prosperity, the underlying state of moral values, social cohesion, and ethical governance raises critical concerns, we coined this misalignment as <i>Illusional Progress</i>. We propose a mathematical framework that examines how technological advancements, if not matched by corresponding civilizational progress, can lead to systemic imbalances and cumulative degradation. The concept of a “non-return point” is introduced, representing a threshold beyond which recovery becomes increasingly difficult, with profound implications for societal stability and resilience. The findings emphasize the need for synchronized growth that aligns technological innovation with strengthened social cohesion, shared ethical principles, and sustainable governance. Practical strategies for mitigating real degradation and fostering long-term stability are discussed, offering actionable insights for policymakers and researchers.</p>
