Background <p>Textile industries generate diverse solid waste streams, including fabrics, dyes, chemicals, and packaging materials, which require targeted solutions for effective waste management.</p> General objective <p>This study proposed a framework that serves as a practical guide, enabling textile companies and stakeholders to implement sustainable waste management practices, that aligns with sustainable development goal 12.5 and Zimbabwe NDS 2 priorities.</p> Methods <p>The study employed a mixed-methods approach, combining literature review, case studies, and stakeholder engagement. The researchers self-administered the questionnaires using stratified random sampling and purposive sampling was used to select key informants of this research.</p> Results <p>The study findings indicated that inadequate solid waste infrastructure, insufficient solid waste management practices, limited recycling facilities are among causes of waste generation resulting certain consequential effects like increased cost of business and harmful pollutants. The study findings also indicated that, solid waste collection, solid waste disposal through methods such as open dumping as noted by (50%) of respondents, land filling as reported by (5%), open burning as noted by (27%) are among the solid waste management practices at Kadoma Textiles Pvt Ltd. Kadoma Textiles Pvt Ltd is also using some traditional and integrated components of waste management hierarchy such waste disposal and reuse to manage solid waste, however despite that still solid waste at Kadoma Textiles Pvt Ltd is increasing at an alarming rate. The study findings indicated that barriers to waste minimization are among the reasons for such an increase, and these barriers include power cuts as noted by (43%) of respondents, lack of incentives as reported by (26%), lack of knowledge as reported by (5%), outdated machines as noted by (9%), poor quality of raw materials as noted by (13%).</p> Conclusion <p>Therefore, the study concludes that textile waste generation is being overlooked in Zimbabwe Textile industries, specifically Kadoma Textiles Pvt Ltd, despite its devastating effects.</p>
