Examining employee wellbeing in ICT enabled work from home settings through job demands resources theory
摘要
Sustainability through reduced commuting, emission of greenhouse gases, and resource utilization in the workplace. Moreover, it will enhance social sustainability through providing flexibility and creating a balance between work and personal life. Such flexibility may help improve well-being due to the provision of autonomy, stress reduction, and increased satisfaction from work. The evolution of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has impacted a specific work environment, especially in the context of the higher education industry. However, a significant gap in the literature on the impact of ICT on the work-from-home (WFH) experiences and wellbeing of employees, especially in the education industry of Rajasthan, has been identified. The purpose of this study was to bridge the gap by exploring the influence of ICT tools and technologies on the professional and personal lives of employees, especially in the education industry of Rajasthan, by applying the Job Demand-Resource Theory. In the context of the education industry, the evolution of ICT tools and technologies has both positively and negatively impacted not only the professional lives of employees but also their wellbeing. The purpose of this study was to explore all these diverse aspects, offering a detailed analysis of the influence of ICT tools and technologies on WFH experiences and the subsequent impact on wellbeing. A total of 462 samples were used for analysis. The results show that ICT infrastructure and technologies have a positive impact on employee wellbeing, highlighting the significance of ICT in promoting a positive work environment.
