Economic benefits of crowd logistics for direct farm-to-consumer marketing
摘要
Crowd logistics (CL) is a mechanism that reduces delivery costs, particularly for the last mile, by examining both economic and environmental benefits. In the agricultural sector, crowd logistics holds significant promise for enhancing supply chains. Crowd logistics extends farmers' market reach without needing extensive investments. This study investigates the economic benefits of crowd logistics for direct farm-to-consumer marketing. It is highly relevant in the current context, where there is a pressing need for the transformation of supply chain methods in the agricultural sector. The study’s use of the Interpretive DEMATEL (IDEMATEL) approach is particularly relevant in today’s complex and uncertain environment. IDEMATEL is a methodology used to understand the interrelationship among major factors influencing the economic benefits of crowd logistics for direct farm-to-consumer marketing. Eight factors of influence have been identified through literature review and expert opinion. The cause factors are F2 (balancing costs with environmental benefits), F3 (collaborative delivery models), F5 (consumer readiness for crowd deliveries), and F4 (evaluating delivery channels). Results reveal that the commitment of the farmers to use crowd logistics for direct marketing is essential to achieve economic benefits. The study also adds to the policy level insights through the integration of crowd logistics with agricultural marketing, digital agriculture promotion, and Farmer-Producer Organizations (FPOs).
