摘要

Interdisciplinary training is important in advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) education; it integrates diverse disciplines to tackle complex global challenges. This study examines the effectiveness of an interdisciplinary course designed to enhance student understanding and engagement with the SDGs across various educational settings. Employing a multiple case study approach, the research compares four distinct cohorts, each with different course conditions and disciplinary backgrounds, involving 201 university students from Mexico. Data were collected through questionnaires and learning analytics, with descriptive statistics applied for analysis. Findings reveal (a) increased engagement, evidenced by heightened interactions and time spent by participants in the interdisciplinary course setting; (b) positive user experiences reported in all the cohorts; and (c) improved performance outcomes and understanding in SDGs-related tasks. These results highlight the potential of interdisciplinary approaches to enrich SDGs education through greater student engagement and performance. The implications of this study are significant for educational communities and decision-makers, suggesting that such training may be beneficial for integration into university curricula to prepare students more effectively for global sustainability challenges. The study advocates for broader integration of interdisciplinary methods in educational strategies to enhance learning outcomes and SDGs advancement.
