摘要

Family celebrations such as weddings, birthdays, and religious ceremonies are central to social life in Indian cities, yet they often involve intensive use of food, energy, and disposal materials. This study examines how adopting green practices during family celebrations influences individuals’ green values in the districts of Lucknow and Kanpur. Using a cross-sectional survey design, data were collected from 354 respondents who had recently participated in organizing or attending family celebrations. Green festival involvement was analyzed through three dimensions: green food practices, green design and waste management, and green environment and activities. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was used to test the proposed hypothesis. The findings indicate that participation in green celebration practices significantly enhances individuals’ perceived green value. Green food practices and effective waste management show a strong positive influence on green values, while green environment and activity-related practices do not demonstrate a significant effect. The study highlights that visible, practical green actions during family celebrations can help nurture environmentally responsible values and encourage a more sustainable lifestyle in everyday social settings.
